Job Background:
The Role
A lunch time assistant plays a supportive role in ensuring the smooth running of the nursery. They typically work part time hours and may be qualified and unqualified. They are helpful, caring and reliable individuals who work flexibly to provide cover throughout the nursery, supervising meals, tidying up efficiently and helping to soothe children to sleep.
Main Duties and responsibilities
1.        To contribute to the creation of a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children
2.        To care for children in your designated room, following instructions and systems to ensure consistent, high quality care
3.        To be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse, reporting any concerns immediately - in accordance with child protection and whistle blowing policies
4.        To be aware of all children’s day care policies and procedures and ensure these are adhered to
5.        To be reliable and punctual, maintaining staffing ratios at all times
6.        To interact warmly with children and parents, supporting colleagues to fulfil their key person responsibilities
7.        To assist with the provision by planning a stimulating range of age appropriate activities making observations during the lunch period
8.        To assist with observations and record keeping
9.        To assist with the resolution of any complaints or investigations, ensuring confidentiality at al times
10.        To be professional and a good role model to the children
11.        To work flexibly as part of the larger team, assisting colleagues wherever required, in order to ensure the smooth runny of the nursery
12.        To be aware of the high profile of Home from Home and refrain from irresponsible behaviour that could impact the company’s commercial success
13.        To attend reasonable out of working hours activities, including training, staff meetings, parents evenings and special events
14.        To communicate effectively, sharing information, participating in meetings, inductions and 1-2-1s
15.        To respect and value all colleagues, children and parents, encouraging a positive and diverse working environment
16.        To cooperate and work effectively with the room leader and management team, taking on additional responsibilities/duties
17.        To keep a clean and organised kitchen ensuring meals are served on time, and food areas are cleaned to a high standard.
18.        To undertake any other aspects of nursery, work according to need
