Programme Director
(UK based)
The Programmes Director will have overall responsibility for the implementation of the Programmes component of the organisational strategy/business plan, and for coherent engagement with the Campaigns Directorate.
Working as part of a small senior management team, the Programmes Director will support the CEO and work with the Campaigns Director in ensuring effective accountability to the Board, donors and operational partners.

Responsibilities
• Co-ordination and management of monthly and quarterly programme review and planning cycles • Supporting the annual review and business planning process • Ensuring a cohesive approach, focus and direction in strategy delivery • Overall financial control of the programmes directorate • Support for the CEO in presenting reports at Board meetings • Support of the Afghanistan FD/programmes development manager in developing a unique and effective methodology for our child protection work with marginal children • Development and delivery of a calendar of training, mentoring and skills development for the programmes team • Development and management of effective communication and information sharing structures and systems among the programmes team • Co-ordinating knowledge and information with campaigns and admin teams, and levering in knowledge/expertise from outside the org • Monitoring and evaluation of strategy delivery, and the application of skills and learning in this • Provision of day to day support to programme team members • Planning and management of team building, and succession planning • Security planning and management • Co-ordinating relevant areas of strategic planning • Supporting programme assessment and development
Profile
• Post graduate degree in development management and/or relevant discipline • At least 5 years senior programme management experience • Well developed knowledge and skills in relevant participatory frameworks (understanding the differences between PAR, PRA and RRA) • Experience and well developed skills in participatory organisational assessment and partnership management • Excellent track record in securing institutional funding, and in successfully managing and developing grant relationships • Expertise in the delivery of practical projects, local advocacy, partnership development and capacity building • Track record and demonstrable skills in team management and building • Excellent communicator • Commitment to developing every member of the team - with a clear purpose - and providing energy and leadership • Comprehensive knowledge of state if the art child rights programming and child protection • Trainer of trainers • Excellent skills in security planning and management • Profound understanding of participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation • Development and management of complex budgets • Track record of managing donor relationships and assembling and successfully reporting back on institutional grants • Team player • Able to commit for at least 2 - 3 years • French and/or Arabic speaker • IT literate (excel, word, email, power point)
